‘owl observatory’

The concept for ‘Owl Observatory’ is inspired by their distinctive ‘wise’ eyes, incredible binocular vision and their nocturnal nature. They are instantly recognisable and inherently mysterious.

For reference I used the Eurasian Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo): native to Europe and Asia, and one of the largest species of owl in the world. The largest specimens can have wingspans of over 2 metres.

With no natural predators, they’re considered formidable ‘apex’ predators. They’re expert silent hunters, using their enormous orange eyes to easily locate prey at night.

They also have distinctive ‘ear tufts’ and a facial disk: a group of feathers that funnel and magnify sound to their ears, allowing them to detect noise made by the smallest prey.
